These pictures came out of an afternoon visit with my very dear
friend, Samuel. Samuel is a serious amateur photographer. Since I'm
planning on leaving for New Zealand soon, I wanted to get the hang of
my new Canon A40 camera. Samuel asked what sort of venue I was
interested in, and I've always enjoyed taking pictures of flowers, so
he suggested the Arboretum in Golden Gate Park. Once we walked inside
the gate, he quickly gave me an assignment: use the Macro setting on
the camera, and don't be afraid to get in close to the subject.
I think his advice paid off, and I got a higher-than-usual number of
decent pictures from that outing.
