I am now on my second digital camera. The first was a Kodak DC3400, which I wasn't too thrilled with and which eventually broke. Be careful with the plastic function-selector dials on the backs of these cameras. They have four positions: setup, view pictures, download to PC, and take pictures. My switch would not honor the "take pictures" position, making the camera quite useless.
Now I have a Canon PowerShot A40, which I am much happier with. The camera body is a little smaller. It is also a 2 megapixel camera, though with a 3x zoom instead of the 2x of the Kodak. Also the function-select dial is made out of metal and is much sturdier. Oh, the Canon is nicer to the batteries, too. And it has a much better design for protecting the lens. I won't be buying or recommending Kodak digital cameras any time soon.
I'll let you know how well the A40 stands up to the stress of my trip to Auckland, NZ for the America's Cup. I hope to be uploading pictures semi-regularly.
